Subject: Death from Scalds at Pudsey
On Tuesday morning Bertha Spencer, aged 15 months, daughter of
Mr. Robert Spencer, manufacturer, Pudsey, was in the lap of an elder
sister, and another sister was in the act of taking the kettle off the
fire, when it fell, and the hot water scalded the child on the back.
Dr. Binns was called in, but his services proved of no avail, and the
child died soon afterwards.
