Subject: Pudsey Elections
The election of five members of the Pudsey Local Board of Health
is now in progress. The voting papers were delivered yesterday, and
will be collected on Saturday next, and the votes cast up on Monday.
The following gentlemen have been nominated:- Messrs. David Armitage,
cloth manufacturer, Occupation Lane; John Thomas Beer, Outfitter, Threapland
House; Robert Dalby, gentleman, Laisterdyke; Benjamin Elsworth, cloth
maker, Church Lane; Joshua Gaunt, cloth manufacturer, Lowtown; Richard
Hudson, wool extractor, Littlemoor; John Huggan, grocer & farmer,
Crimbles; Christopher Metcalfe, builder, Tyersal; John Midgely, worsted
manufacturer, New Street; James Newell, retired builder, Chapeltown;
William Popplewell, grocer, Radcliffe Lane; James Smith, worsted manufacturer,
Robin Lane; Robert Spencer, cloth manufacturer, Littlemoor; Samuel Varley,
worsted manufacturer, Stanningley; Richard Womersley, jun., cloth manufacturer,
Hill Foot. Messrs. R. Dalby and S. Varley have refused to serve.
