Calverley Tenants 1649 |
In 1649, England had gone through the great civil
war. Parliament was victorious and the year 1649 saw the execution of
King Charles I.
Henry Calverley was a staunch royalist and his lands
were sequestered and placed under the control of one Nathan Dixon. The
following list is one made by Dixon concerning receipt of rents collected
in that year.
