This site is dedicated to the collection and publication of historical and genealogical information pertaining to Nidderdale in Yorkshire. Originally intended as a site for the Hampsthwaite area and originally named "Hampsthwaite", the site has widened it's horizons to cover the whole of upper Nidderdale from Whernside down to Killinghall and Nidd on the Ripon Road. Also included are the settlements along the River Washburn just South.

While church records concentrate mainly on Hampsthwaite Parish Church, we have census indexes for many other townships. For 1841, 1851 and 1861, we cover the whole area and are nearing that goal with the 1871 census indexes.
