Subject: Accident at Pudsey
On Monday last, a painful accident ocurred to a man, named James Lawson, an excavator or "navvy", who resides at Fartown, Pudsey, and who has been engaged lately sinking a well at the house just erected at Uppermoor, by Mr. Joseph Blackburn. On the morning of the day named, Lawson had just got on the rope to descend into the well when it broke and he fell a distance of six yards. Another workman immediately descended into the well and the man was got to the top as soon as possible and removed home, and being a rather heavy man, as may easily supposed, he was much hurt.
