Subject: The School Board election
The nomination for candidates for election as members of the
School Board closed on Tuesday. The number of gentlemen required is
seven, and the following eight gentlemen have been nominated:- Messrs.
James Banks, cloth manufacturer, Uppermoor; William Maude, salesman,
Height House; and Samuel Wade, cloth manufacturer, Hammerton Field -
Churchmen. Messrs. George Hinings, gentleman, Littlemoor Hall; James
Green Mills, worsted manufacturer, Pudsey; Robert Dalby, gentleman,
Swaine Green; and John Whitehead, auctioneer, Church Lane - Nonconformists.
Mr. J. Whithead has been withdrawn so there will be no poll.
