St John's Parish Marriages
The marriage records for St John the Evangelist
in Farsley begin in 1845. As with the other new churches in the area,
few marriages took place here; local people preferring to marry in the
old church at Calverley.
There were only 88 marriages between 1845 and 1890. There is a record
of an "almost" marriage:
2 September 1844, "Sam Farrar went to get married to Annie Busfield
but ran away when the minister was putting the ring on her". Poor
Cricketer Ray Illingworth's marriage can be found here in 1958
The records indexed here are entered by date order. The reference refers
to the registration held by Leeds Register Office.
