The existing church of St Michael in Farnley is comparatively
new, though built on the site of older chapels. Baptisms and burials were
carried out here from an early period; some memorial stones in the church
yard date back to the 17th century. Known records date back to 1624, but burial records do not start until 1794. The last burial here was in the 1970s. Most burials from the 1860s onwards took place at the municipal cemetery on nearby Tong Road (see Farnley Cemetery under the Miscellaneous tab).
The Reference where it occurs is the Death Registration at Leeds Register
Office.
